Throughout countless Nations Indigenous women and Two-Spirit peoples have long been spiritual, political, and community leaders. Indigenous women and Two-Spirit peoples are the center of our Nations and many of us see Indigenous feminism and Two-Spirit resistance as integral to Indigenous nationhood and meaningful resurgence. The Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit Harm Reduction Coalition use these modes of resistance and are accountable to our responsibilities, communities, and kinships through the work of harm reduction. IW2SHRC offers free harm reduction materials, referrals, and services to Indigenous peoples in Montreal. This includes gear for safer drug use, sexual health resources, and safer sex materials. IW2SHRC's work is grounded in the belief that colonialism is inherently harmful so decolonization and working against colonial systems is inherently harm reductive. IW2SHRC recognizes that harm reduction means different things to different people and our approach is non-hierarchical and reflexive. Ultimately we want to help facilitate access to the medicines our clients have decided they need in their lives. IW2SHRC will explore how Indigenous feminism and Two-Spirit resistance is essential for meaningful community-based organizing addressing systemic violence within Indigenous communities. IW2SHRC will also explore how harm reduction is of paramount importance to community organizing strategies dealing with Indigenous women, Two-Spirit peoples, and Indigenous youth.
